Jessica Swisher is both an attorney and an entrepreneur in the oil and gas industry. With an interest in property law, Ms. Swisher began practicing in the oil and gas industry with a firm immediately upon graduating law school in 2009. She since has established her own law practice*, while retaining several of the same abstractors. She has reviewed and certified thousands of mineral titles covering lands in many of the counties of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. The titles have ranged in complexity from fee ownerships to heirships with over a hundred owners and have included interpretations of mineral severances regarding executive and nonexecutive mineral interests. She has organized and led projects for large producers in the Appalachian Basin. She is licensed to practice law in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, with admission to all three states being acquired via bar examination.
A native of Ritchie County, West Virginia, Ms. Swisher is a 2006 summa cum laude graduate of Alderson Broaddus College earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Minor in Finance. She continued her studies at West Virginia University through a joint degree program, earning a Master in Business Administration in 2008 and a Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 2009. While in law school, Ms. Swisher earned an award as one of the top legal researchers and writers in her class. Additionally, she was a member of the law school’s Entrepreneurship Clinic, wherein she helped set-up local for-profit and non-profit organizations.
Ms. Swisher is dedicated to her work as an attorney and as a leader to her land team to help provide quality and comprehensive land services in the oil and gas industry.
